Christopher S. Henderson Sr.
Senior Pastor/Lead Teacher
Pastor Christopher Henderson Sr. serves as the Senior Pastor and Lead Teacher of Star of Hope Baptist Church in DeSoto, Texas. Known for his dynamic leadership and heartfelt dedication to God’s work, Pastor Chris brings a fresh perspective to ministry, focusing on equipping individuals with the tools needed to grow spiritually and lead fulfilling lives.
A graduate of Texas A&M University, Pastor Chris excelled both academically and as a student leader, earning recognition as one of the top 20 senior student leaders on campus. He holds a degree in Speech Communication with a minor in Spanish, which reflects his passion for connecting with diverse communities.
Pastor Chris is deeply committed to personal development and education, believing that a strong Biblical foundation is essential for fulfilling one’s destiny in the Kingdom of God. This passion is reflected in his teaching and his active role in community leadership.

As a member of the DeSoto Pastors Coalition, he collaborates with fellow clergy to address pressing issues and serve the city with faith-driven initiatives. Additionally, his involvement with the DeSoto Police and Clergy alliance exemplifies his dedication to building bridges between faith leaders and law enforcement, fostering peace and unity in the community.
Pastor Chris is also a published co-author of the inspirational book, Persist Until Success Happens, which encourages readers to persevere through challenges to achieve their goals.
At the heart of Pastor Chris’ life and ministry is his family. He is joyfully married to his beloved wife, Charita, a woman who shares his passion for ministry and community service. Charita leads the Children’s Ministry, nurturing the next generation with love and purpose. Her dedication to service extends beyond the church walls, earning her the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award from President Barack Obama. Charita oversees Star of Hope’s philanthropic efforts, ensuring the church remains a beacon of hope and support for those in need.
Together, Pastor Chris and Charita are blessed with four children and are committed to serving God, their family, and their community with love and purpose. As a team, they are committed to making Star of Hope a place where people from all walks of life can find spiritual growth, community, and inspiration.
